My boyfriend and I recently took a fabulous vacation to the UK, one of my fave destinations. Since I’ve recently picked up a bit of a fabric obsession, I had to make a pilgrimage to the Liberty department store to glimpse (and purchase) some of the famous Liberty fabrics.

Built in the 1920s, the interior has the feel of being in an old Tudor building, complete with lots of decorative wood details, and several five-story open atria that give views of all of the floors.

The haberdashery is located on the third floor and is amazing. This table was dedicated to quilting with books and fabric bundles.

Plus bolts upon bolts of the various Liberty Lawn prints! Most of the fabrics are £19.95 per meter.

And tons of notions like these buttons! In addition to their signature print collections, they stock some fabrics from other designers, as well as a large selection of Rowan yarns.

Since I get lost in a sea of indecision with no concrete project in mind, I purchased two bundles of “skinny” quarters. At £50 each, I’m not sure this was any saving over the by-the-bolt cuts! At least I’ll get about 10% back with the tax-free shopping?

They also sold oodles of products featuring different Liberty prints like blouses, pillows, notebooks, mugs, and pencils. I love this peacock inspired print, so I bought this small tray to wrangle office supplies on my desk.

Now just to decide what to make with my fabric purchase. Whatever I end up with, it will be a great souvenir!
