Yay, I made it through the whole 30 for 30 challenge without any cheating or other mishaps! I will definitely not miss taking a photo every day and will be glad to add a few favorites back into rotation. Still need to go through my clothes to get rid of some pieces that are just taking up space in my closet and dresser. I did manage to find a few pairs of shoes and old purses to toss over the weekend, though!

Really? Only five days left in the 30 for 30 challenge? I am getting a bit sick of some of these clothes, especially the shoes! I do plan to go through my closet/dresser this weekend to get rid of items I haven’t worn in the last year and some that I know I won’t wear again. I even have to dump at least two of the tops from the challenge — they have irreparable holes! The challenge has also involved not shopping, but that’s actually been pretty easy, as we’ve been having a lot of rain on the weekends that makes our outdoor shopping areas unappealing. I almost had a moment of weakness with some tempting President’s Day sales, but eventually resisted, though I want to pick up some black ponte pants and new black tights at some point. Anyway, here are the outfits I’ve been wearing over the last week.

Not loving the day 18 look, but the day 19 look was perfect for the rainy Saturday we had. Unfortunately this sweater has a tiny hole on the sleeve!

This is the first time I’ve worn this pencil skirt! I really like it, but might go with a more structured shirt next time. And I did not like the cardigan with this particular top for day 23.

Wow, my hair is actually behaving in the day 24 picture! And decided to pose with my umbrella today, since it was pouring again. This outfit is almost exactly like day 15, except with a different necklace — oops!

Woo, can’t believe the 30 for 30 challenge is more than half over! I’m definitely getting sick of some of my shoes, especially my boots since it’s been rainy all week and those are really my only option. It was also hard on Wednesday this week, since I literally only had one option for my top and cardigan because of our laundry schedule. Oops!

I switched to jeans and boots for after work since I had been to the gym, but still had to go out for book club. Wanted something a little more relaxed!

So I wasn’t thrilled with the white top when I wore it on day 1, but I like it a lot better here. This is also the first time these denim-look dress pants have made an appearance!

The 30 for 30 Challenge is moving right along! I sat down earlier this week and loosely mapped out the rest of the outfits, that is, what tops go with what bottoms and possible shoe options. It’s definitely made picking something out in the morning easier! Here we have a casual weekend look and a dressy work look. I love the top from day 7, which I got at H&M on the sale rack, as well as the maroon tights, which unfortunately have a run that is quickly expanding!

Another fairly typical work outfit (dress pants, blouse, cardigan) and a casual look (I was not feeling well, so didn’t go in to work).

Time for some prints! I love love love this jersey dress and I’ve already professed my love for these Target boots. The top from today is also one of my favorite work blouses.

Hmm, I really need to change up my pose — lots of hand on the hip!

Not in love with the tights I chose for this outfit, probably should have gone black? The skirt is actually a heathered blue, not black as it appears in this picture.

Why yes, I did wear the same cardigan two days in a row. I also have a love/hate relationship with this shirt. It’s one I put in the challenge because I never wear it and I’m still not convinced.

This is my favorite outfit so far. Probably just because I’m in love with this yellow cardigan and these gray boots (from Target!)

Nothing special about these two — they’re actually pretty similar. I definitely need a haircut and maybe more makeup, geze.

Since I’m constantly frustrated at the thought of choosing what to wear each day, despite having an overflowing closet and dresser drawers, I decided it was high time to participate in the 30 for 30 challenge hosted by Kendi Everyday. The idea is to pick 30 clothing items you already own, including shoes, but not including other accessories, and wear only those 30 items for 30 days. (Oh yeah, and don’t buy anything new!) With a limited selection, I’ll be both constrained and liberated. Yes, I will only have 30 things to work with — can I really come up with 30 unique outfits? — but since the selection is so limited, I won’t overwhelmed with choices each morning. I hope this challenge will force me to rethink my clothing purchasing habits (I definitely have a few items with tags still on in my closet!) and maybe even inspire me to tame the mess by editing my collection. Without further ado, here’s what I’ve selected:

Four pairs of shoes.

Six cardigans (about all one needs for warmth in southern CA).

Four skirts.

Eleven tops and two dresses.

Four three pairs of pants. (After I took all of the pictures, I realized I have 31 items, so I’m cutting one pair of jeans)

And here’s what I’ve got planned for the first day:

I hope to do a weekly recap with photos of all my outfits, but I’m still trying to work out where in my small apartment I can take a full-length picture!

Oh! These hats from Toronto-based Wildhagen are divine. Makes me wish I had been more industrious in my millinery class in college.
