Don’t you just love this vintage Air France illustration?

I want to wear this right now with a white v-neck shirt, dark jeans, and brown boots.
Lately I’ve had a hankering for some big, plastic, retro specs. I’ve been spying them around lately — on TV, in fashion blogs , etc — and I’ve been meaning to upgrade my glasses anyway. Here some style inspiration.

One of my favorite Christmas presents! Why am I such a sucker for awkwardly cute stuffed animals?

“Ice-Bat, comes from an Ice Cave and loves hiding inside Ice Chests.
Everything he touches turns to Ice-Bat profoundly he warms your
heart. Ice-Bat thinks you are cool and he wants to chill with you.
He wants to hang out with you…or just hang upside-down, if that’s
OK with you! Ice-Bat is there for you when you feel like you may be
loosing your cool, or feeling like a fool. Don’t panic! Don’t stress! Grab
Ice-Bat and put him to the test.”
- Trip planning: I’m headed to Chicago on Saturday to hang with one of my best friends from college. I love looking up info on new cities and plotting out the perfect itinerary. Looking forward to improv shows, deep dish pizza, the Art Institute, the Cubs, architecture and general city living. But now I’m afraid I’m going to fall in love with the city and never want to come back!
- New TV: We’re finally on the brink of all new episodes! Greek, Project Runway, Gossip Girl and ANTM have been sating my appetite for the last couple weeks, but can’t wait for Sunny, Office, 30 Rock, Pushing Daisies, etc to start up soon.
- Mangoes: So, so yummy.

I’m totally in love with this grey bed from Pottery Barn. It’s on sale for $699, still a bit out of my price range. So now I’m obsessed with finding something similar…
- The Olympics: August is prime time for summer laziness and what better way to spend time lazing around than by watching world class athletes battle for the gold? I’m not sure anything will beat the men’s 4x100m swim relay for sheer excitement, but I can’t help but be drawn into watching swimming, gymnastics, volleyball, cycling and all the other sports (except boxing. I really don’t like boxing).
- Manga: I had to read Bleach Vol. 1 for my teen book group and was surprised at how much I enjoyed it. I didn’t want to wait for the second volume to get returned to the library, so I’ve been seeking out alternative methods of reading it. (Scanlations — a legal gray area, but not hard to find online). I’ve also gotten into Death Note and plan to read some more once I’ve finished that series.
- Planning for my (fake) new apartment: Ok, so I still don’t have a job, which means I still don’t have my first real grown-up apartment. But that hasn’t stopped me from spending most of my online time saving pictures from interior design blogs (hello DesignSponge and Decor8!), poring over the new Ikea catalog, and ogling apartment listings on Craigslist (in Seattle, DC, LA and Chicago!).

- Catalina Island: Located about 26 miles off the coast of Southern California, this island is a fun weekend getaway. We went on an inland tour up super scary windy roads, saw some American Bison (yes really!), kayaked, drove around in a golf cart, watched an organ concert and The Dark Knight in a beautiful 1929 theater and went on a nighttime flying fish boat ride.
- My Nintendo DS Lite: I finally gave in and bought myself a shiny, white Nintendo DS. I love the dual screen interface and the fun games I’m borrowing for it like Brain Age, Mario Kart DS, Trauma Center and Super Mario Bros.
- Comic-con anticipation: San Diego Comic-con is tomorrow! I haven’t been since 2004, back when the tickets didn’t sell out, so I’m excited to see all the spectacle and hopefully some cool panels (The Office writers! Judd Apatow!)
- Dr. Horrible’s Sing-Along Blog: I’m not even a big Joss Whedon fan, but how could a musical about super villains starring Neil Patrick Harris and Nathan Fillion not be amazing?
- Heath Ledger as The Joker: “You prefer a magic trick, instead? Watch me make this pencil disappear.”
