I recently finished my biggest quilt to date! It was a Christmas present for my younger sister and inspired by the purple color scheme in her room. The design is loosely based on Elizabeth Hartman’s charm squares baby quilt with bigger squares and criss-crossed. I’m still having issues with perfect 1/4 inch seams which resulted in not-totally-lined-up strips and with basting, but overall I’m pleased with the final product!

I love Christmas and I love Christmas music — I have over 14 hours of it in iTunes! I thought I’d spread some holiday cheer and share my five favorite songs for the season.

My local quilting store, The Fabric Quarter, is closing its brick-and-mortar shop — so sad! The good news for us local quilters is that everything in the store is now 30-40% off, so I took the opportunity to build my stash.

I’m obsessed with grey and yellow at the moment, so I’m collecting fabrics for an eventual quilt.

I couldn’t resist this bundle of Anna Maria Horner Innocent Crush!

Super cute holiday fabric — don’t know if I’ll whip anything up for this season, though.

Plus, some initial progress on a new quilt. Lots of purples and aquas!

Oh! These hats from Toronto-based Wildhagen are divine. Makes me wish I had been more industrious in my millinery class in college.

Santa Barbara Modern Quilt Guild Challenge - Circles
This is my block for this month’s Santa Barbara Modern Quilt Guild challenge. I was part of the team to choose the fabric, including some retro-y prints by Michael Miller, and come up with the theme, which was circles. I’m excited to see what everyone else came up with!
